Daily Devotion - Cast It Before It Grows
Our Daily Devotion - Cast It Before It Grows - “Cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)
Have you ever noticed how one anxious thought can hijack your entire day? You wake in the quiet of the morning calm and grateful—then a single what-if slips in. Money. That relationship. Tomorrow’s meeting. Before long, your mind is racing through worst-case scenarios, and by noon you’re worn out from battles no one else can see, but you know are very real.
Anxiety works like an invasive weed. Left unattended, it spreads fast, wrapping itself around every good thought until peace feels crowded out. Peter doesn’t tell us to analyze our anxieties or manage them better—he tells us to cast them. Throw them off. Hand them over. Why? Because God cares. Not vaguely. Personally.
We often try to tend our minds on our own, pulling weeds with tired hands and wondering why peace won’t stay. But the moment we surrender the garden to God, something changes. When worries are placed back in His hands, fear loosens its grip. Truth begins to take root. Peace doesn’t arrive all at once—but it grows steadily, quietly, the way healthy things always do.
This isn’t about pretending life isn’t hard or forcing positive thoughts. It’s about trust—daily, sometimes moment by moment. Each time worry knocks, pause and pray simply: “Lord, this belongs to You.” You don’t need perfect thoughts—just a willing heart. God is faithful to tend what we entrust to Him.
Today, don’t let anxiety grow unchecked. Cast it early. Cast it often. And watch as the God who cares for you works His peace into every corner of your mind.
Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you.
