Bible Stories for Kids - The 10 Commandments
Once upon a time, long ago, there lived a man named Moses. Moses was chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, where they had been kept as slaves. After escaping from Egypt, Moses and the Israelites traveled through the desert to reach the land God had promised them.
One day, God called Moses to climb up a mountain called Mount Sinai. When Moses reached the top, God spoke to him and gave him a special set of rules called the Ten Commandments. These commandments were important because they helped the people understand how to love God and each other.
God wrote the Ten Commandments on two stone tablets. The first four commandments were about loving and honoring God. They said:
1. Worship only God.
2. Do not make idols or statues to worship.
3. Always speak God's name with respect.
4. Rest on the seventh day and keep it holy.
The next six commandments were about treating other people kindly and fairly. They said:
5. Respect your father and your mother.
6. Do not harm others.
7. Stay faithful to your family.
8. Do not steal.
9. Always tell the truth.
10. Do not be jealous of what others have.
Moses brought these commandments back to the people, and they promised to follow them. By obeying these rules, the Israelites showed their love for God and for each other.
## Activity

### Instructions:

2. Use the black marker or crayon to write "The Ten Commandments" at the top of each tablet.
3. On the first tablet, write the first four commandments. On the second tablet, write the remaining six commandments. You might want to have an adult help with any tricky words.
4. Decorate the edges of your stone tablets by drawing patterns or shapes, or by gluing on small pieces of colored paper to make them look like real stone.
