Walking with Jesus

Stand Your Ground

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” — Ephesians 6:11

Life can feel like a battlefield—a place where the stakes are high, and every day brings its own challenges and unseen adversaries. The clash isn’t always loud or obvious, but it’s real, and it’s relentless. Each step forward can feel like an act of courage.

You’re trying to do what’s right, but discouragement shows up uninvited, heavy on your shoulders. Doubt doesn’t just knock; it slips quietly through the back door of your mind, sowing questions when you least expect it. Temptation rarely announces itself—it whispers in the quiet, offering easy paths and quick escapes.

Paul understood that. That’s why he didn’t tell believers to relax. He told them to suit up.

What strikes me every time I read this passage is profound: God never sends His people into a fight unprepared. He lovingly provides armor—truth to steady your mind, righteousness to guard your heart, peace to anchor your steps, faith to shield you from the onslaught, salvation as your secure foundation, and His Word as your sword and guide.

Everything necessary. Nothing missing. Not a single piece overlooked by a God who knows your battles.

But there’s a responsibility on our side.

“Put on” the armor.

It’s available, but it doesn’t jump on you by accident. You choose it.

Putting on the armor isn’t complicated or dramatic—it’s a quiet act of faithfulness. It’s practical and steady, woven into the rhythms of ordinary life. It’s beginning your morning in prayer, letting God’s Spirit shape your outlook before the world can shape your fears. It’s choosing truth when exaggeration or bitterness would be easier, speaking life where others speak cynicism.

It’s opening Scripture when anxiety tries to take over, allowing God’s promises to drown out the noise. It’s remembering whose you are when the world tries to rename you, standing secure in your God-given identity.

This isn’t about hype. It’s about readiness.

The enemy has schemes. He always has. But God has already given you everything you need to stand—not in fear, but in confidence. And here’s the heart of it: you’re not fighting for victory, desperately hoping to win. You’re standing from a victory Christ has already secured, anchored in a hope that cannot be shaken. The outcome is settled; your calling is to stand firm in it.

So today, don’t just get dressed.

Suit up.

Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you—even when the path is difficult, and the battle feels long. He is with you, equipping you, loving you, and leading you forward.

In His love and grace,
