Daily Devotion — Be Still and Know that I am God
“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’” — Psalm 46:10
Here is what no one tells you about stillness: it terrifies us, because it exposes what we have been running from—the fear that God might not show up.
So we fill every silence with noise and every pause with productivity. We stay busy, mistaking motion for devotion and confusing frantic service with genuine faith. Deep down, we wonder, What if I get quiet and He is not there?
But God does not say, “Be still and work harder to find Me.” He says, “Be still, and know.” Not learn. Not discover. Know. Know that He already is—right here, right now—sovereign over your chaos, present in your pain, and working even while you rest.
To be still means to release, to let go, to stop fighting for control. It is as if God is saying, “Child, put down your weapons. The battle is Mine, and I have already won.”
Your soul was never designed for endless striving. It was designed for sacred rest in the God who never rests, never sleeps, and never stops loving you.
Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you.
