Day 7 — Learning to Listen

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
— John 10:27

Hearing God’s voice transcends mere volume. It is rooted in intimacy. The more we immerse ourselves in His presence, the clearer His gentle whisper becomes, guiding us like a soft breeze rustling through the leaves.

In a world brimming with noise and distraction, the act of listening becomes a sacred endeavor. God communicates with us not only through the pages of His Word, but also in moments of profound stillness and through the gentle nudges of the Spirit that still our hearts.

Take time to be still. Quiet the storm within, and create space to truly listen. In that sacred silence, you will discover the richness of His voice calling you closer.

Let us pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, quiet the noise around us and within us. Teach us to recognize Your voice and follow Your lead. Help us to slow down, be still, and listen for the gentle direction of Your Spirit. Draw us closer to You, one step and one quiet moment at a time.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Ray's Reflection on Learning to Listen

It is hard to hear God’s voice when we are not walking with Him.

Too often, we want direction without devotion. We want answers without abiding. We want signs and wonders, but we neglect the quiet walk of daily fellowship with the Lord. Then, when trouble comes, we call on Him like an emergency service instead of walking with Him as our Shepherd.

Now, thank God, He is merciful. He hears us when we cry out. But the Christian life was never meant to be lived from crisis to crisis, only reaching for God when the road gets rough. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice.” Sheep recognize the shepherd’s voice because they stay near him. They follow him. They learn the sound of his call by walking close day after day.

If we only seek God when we need rescued, we may miss the gentle voice that was trying to guide us before the emergency ever came.

Walking with Jesus means learning to listen before we panic, before we wander, before we make a mess of things. It means opening His Word, spending time in prayer, and quieting our hearts long enough to hear.

Don’t just chase signs. Walk with the Savior.

The closer we walk with Him, the clearer His voice becomes.

The Lord be with you,

In His love,
