Learning from Delays
Walking with Jesus — Day 18
Learning from Delays
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” — Psalm 27:14
A delay does not mean denial.
Often, God places us in waiting rooms not to punish us, but to prepare us. Waiting has a way of refining our hearts, reshaping our character, and teaching us to depend on Him more deeply.
David was anointed king long before he ever wore the crown. Years passed between the promise and the palace. But those years were not wasted. In the fields, in the caves, and on the run from Saul, David learned lessons he could never have learned sitting on a throne. God used the delay to prepare the man for the assignment.
The same is true for us.
What feels like a frustrating delay may actually be divine preparation. God’s pauses serve a greater purpose, even when we cannot see the whole picture. He may be strengthening your faith, deepening your patience, or preparing you for something greater than you are ready to carry today.
So do not despise the waiting season. Embrace it with faith. The delay may be the very place where God equips you for what comes next.
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to wait with faith and not frustration. Give us courage to trust that Your timing is perfect, even when we do not understand the delay. Strengthen our hearts, shape our character, and prepare us for what You have ahead. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
The Lord be with you.
