"Jesus didn't calm the storm before He called Peter out of the boat. He called him to step into the storm - and trust Him there." ~ ray mileur
When we picture faith, we often imagine calm waters and clear skies. We think that if God is leading us, the path should become easier and the storms should fade away. But the story of Peter walking on the water reminds us that faith rarely works that way.
The wind was still howling. The waves were still crashing against the boat. The storm had not passed. Yet in the middle of all that chaos, Jesus simply said one word: “Come.”
Peter didn’t step out because the conditions were safe. He stepped out because Jesus called him.
That moment reminds us that faith isn’t built in comfort—it’s built in trust. God often calls us forward while the winds are still blowing and the outcome is far from certain. He asks us to take a step when the world says to stay in the boat.
The miracle wasn’t just that Peter walked on water. The miracle was that he trusted Jesus enough to leave the safety of the boat in the first place.
Many of us are waiting for the storm to calm before we move forward. But sometimes the call of Christ comes right in the middle of the wind and waves.
And when Jesus says *“Come,” the safest place in the world is wherever He is—even in the middle of the storm.
