The Quote of the Day
"Joy isn't pretending that the storm isn't real, it's trusting God for the rainbow that follows" ~ ray mileur
Storms have a way of showing what we’re really standing on. When life gets rough, the masks come off. You can try to smile through the pain, but it doesn’t fix what’s hurting inside.
You can pretend the thunder isn’t there, but sooner or later, you have to face it. Life brings storms—loss that breaks your heart, disappointment that stings, prayers that seem to go unanswered. But it’s in those hard places that what we truly believe comes out.
Joy isn’t pretending everything is fine. It’s not about ignoring the hard stuff or putting on a brave face. Real joy looks at the storm and says, “This hurts.” But it also keeps hoping, even when things are dark.
Christian joy is rooted in trust—a profound assurance that God is not absent in our suffering, but is intimately present in the downpour. Joy remembers that the same loving hands that permit the storm are the ones that create the rainbow.
Even when the storm lingers, and the skies remain dark far longer than we hoped, Christian joy holds onto the certainty that every season of trial has an end. The darkness is not forever, and the promise of light remains.
Rainbows don’t make us forget the storm. They show up after the rain as reminders that God keeps His promises. Every rainbow says that light will break through, even after the hardest days. Joy is choosing to trust that, even when the sky is still gray.
If you’re in the middle of a storm today, don’t feel like you have to pretend it’s sunny. Call it what it is, but don’t give up. Hold on. Keep trusting. The rainbow will come. Light is on the way.
