Walking with Jesus: The Peace Jesus Gives

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” —John 14:27

Have you ever noticed how quickly peace can slip through our fingers?

One phone call, one troubling headline, one unexpected change—and suddenly our hearts are racing and our minds are spinning with worry.

The world offers its own version of peace: financial security, comfortable circumstances, good health and the absence of conflict. Those things may bring temporary relief, but they are fragile foundations. They can change overnight.

Jesus offers something entirely different.

In the hours before His arrest and crucifixion, when He had every human reason to be troubled, Jesus promised His disciples a peace that could not be explained by their circumstances. He was not offering them an escape from hardship. He was giving them His own peace in the middle of it.

This is not positive thinking or pretending that everything is fine. It is a supernatural calm rooted in who God is and what He has promised.

It is the quiet assurance that whatever happens, we are still held in His hands. Beyond what we understand, beyond what we can control and beyond everything we fear, our loving Father remains faithful.

Jesus does not merely wish peace upon us. He gives it to us as a gift.

The world says, “You can have peace when the storm is over.”

Jesus says, “You can have My peace while the storm is still raging.”

That does not mean our hearts will never feel troubled or that fear will never knock at the door. It means fear does not have to move in and take control.

When worry rises today, pause and remember the words of Jesus: “My peace I give you.”

Receive what He has already placed within your reach. Release what you cannot control. Trust the One who is never shaken.

Let us Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me a peace that does not depend upon my circumstances. When my heart is troubled and fear begins to rise, help me remember that I am safe in Your hands. Quiet my anxious thoughts, strengthen my faith and teach me to rest in Your promises. Let Your peace guard my heart and mind today, no matter what may come.
