When Your Ministry Crowds out the Master

Are you working so hard for God, you don't have time for Him?

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” — John 15:5 (ESV)

One of the greatest dangers in ministry — and in everyday Christian living — is getting so busy doing things for God that we forget to spend time with God.

Activity feels holy. Busyness feels productive. Checking spiritual boxes feels like progress. But heaven isn’t moved by our hustle. It’s moved by our surrender.

We often say, “I don’t have time for God today; I’ve got too much to do for Him.” But that’s backwards.

God never asked us to run around accomplishing things for Him — He asked us to abide in Him so He can work through us.

There’s a world of difference between, working for God and letting God work through you.

One leads to exhaustion, frustration, and spiritual dryness.
The other leads to fruit, peace, strength, and steady effectiveness.

The truth is simple, I don’t get up in the morning to do things for God. I get up to allow God to do things through me.

That’s the difference between being busy and being usable.

Between striving, and abiding.

Between burnout, and blessing.

God doesn’t need our talent, our push, or our schedule. He needs our availability.

REFLECTION

Am I living today like a branch connected to the Vine, or like a worker rushing around without checking in with the Master? Productivity means nothing if God’s presence isn’t guiding it. The real question isn’t, “What can I do for God today?” It’s, “What can God do through me if I slow down long enough to listen?”

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father, slow me down when my eagerness turns into hurried busyness. Teach me to abide, not strive — to listen before I labor, and to surrender before I serve. Work through me in ways my own strength never could. Let my life, my schedule, and my ministry be shaped by Your leading, not my agenda. Use me today because I’m available, not because I’m busy.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
