Daily Devotion: When Hope Runs Low
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” - Scripture — Romans 15:13 (NIV)When Hope Runs LowThere are times in life when hope seems to be all we have left. And sometimes, even that begins to wear thin.Maybe you've been praying about something for weeks, months, or even years. You've asked God for healing, for restoration, for a door to open, or for something in your life to change. You've prayed faithfully, but the answer you were hoping for hasn't come. And if we're willing to be honest, we sometimes simply get tired.I've spent enough time beside hospital beds, with grieving families, and with people facing circumstances beyond their control to know that telling someone to "just have faith" isn't always what they need to hear.Sometimes they need to be reminded of Who their faith is in.Paul doesn't tell us in Romans 15:13 to dig a little deeper and find some hope within ourselves. He points us directly to the source. He calls our Heavenly Father the God of hope. That's worth remembering. Our hope as Christians isn't built on the belief that everything will work out the way we want. It rests in the assurance that God is faithful, regardless of how things turn out.And notice something else in this verse. Paul connects joy and peace with trusting God, not with getting the answers we want. That's an important distinction. We can have peace while we're still waiting. We can experience joy even when circumstances are difficult. And we can have hope when we cannot see what tomorrow holds. Not because we're strong enough to make those things happen, but because the Holy Spirit is at work within us.I've learned that some of the most important prayers we will ever pray are also the simplest."Lord, I don't understand what's happening, but I trust You.""Lord, I'm tired, but I'm not giving up on You.""Lord, I don't know what tomorrow brings, but I know You will be there."That's faith. Not pretending everything is fine, but trusting God when it isn't.And when my own hope begins to run low, I return to the same truth I've shared with so many others: Pray, believe, release.Pray about what burdens your heart. Believe that God hears you. Then release the outcome into His hands. We cannot always change our circumstances, but we can trust the One who holds us through them. Here's what I want you to remember today: Your hope may grow weak, but the God in whom you place your hope never does. The Lord be with you.In His love, ray

When Hope Runs Low

Daily Devotion: You Are Never Walking Alone “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” — Matthew 28:20 (NIV) There are days when life feels heavier than we expected. Days when the phone rings with news we didn't want to hear. Days when we sit in a hospital waiting room, stand beside the bed of someone we love, or wake in the middle of the night with worries we can't seem to put aside. And sometimes, even surrounded by family and friends, we can feel terribly alone. But I want to remind you of something this morning. Jesus never promised us a life without trouble, but He did promise that we would never have to walk through it without Him.In Matthew 28, Jesus was preparing His disciples for the work ahead. He had risen from the grave, all authority in heaven and on earth belonged to Him, and He was sending them into the world to make disciples. He knew what they would face. There would be opposition, suffering, uncertainty, and days when they would question whether they had the strength to continue. And what did He give them? Not a promise that everything would be easy. Not an assurance that everyone would accept their message or that every road would be smooth. He gave them something far greater.“I am with you always.”I've spent a good portion of my life walking into hospital rooms, sitting with grieving families, and praying with people facing circumstances neither they nor I could change. And I've learned something along the way.Sometimes I don't have the answers. Sometimes I don't know what to say. Sometimes all I can do is sit beside someone, take their hand, and pray. But I know this much: I do not have to bring Jesus into that room. He is already there. And that same Lord who walks with us through difficult moments is with us in the ordinary moments of life as well. When you're sitting at the kitchen table wondering how you're going to make ends meet, He is there. When the house is quiet and you're missing someone who used to fill it with laughter, He is there. When you're exhausted from carrying responsibilities nobody else seems to understand, He is there. And when you have prayed every prayer you know how to pray, and still don't see an answer, He has not abandoned you.His presence doesn't mean we won't suffer. His presence means our suffering will never separate us from His love.Friends, one of the greatest lessons I've learned in my walk with Jesus is that I don't have to understand everything God is doing to trust that He is with me.I can pray, believe, and release those burdens into His hands. And so can you.Whatever today holds, remember that the promise Jesus made wasn't I'll be with you when things are going well.He said always. In the good times. In the difficult times. In the waiting. In the uncertainty. Even in those moments when we cannot feel His presence. His faithfulness does not depend on our feelings. So take that next step. Make that difficult phone call. Walk into that appointment. Face whatever responsibility is waiting for you today. And remember, you are not walking alone. The same Jesus who promised to be with His disciples nearly two thousand years ago is still faithful to His promise today.

You Are Never Walking Alone

Before the Day Begins
“Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life.” - Scripture — Psalm 143:8 (NIV)Let God Have the First WordOne of the things I have learned over the years is that how we start our mornings often determines how we approach the rest of the day. Some mornings, before our feet ever touch the floor, our minds are already running. We think about what needs to be done, the people who are depending on us, the problems waiting to be addressed, and the things that kept us awake the night before. And if we're not careful, we can carry the weight of an entire day before we've even asked the Lord to help us through it.David understood something about that.In Psalm 143, David wasn't writing from a place of comfort. He was surrounded by trouble, weary in spirit, and crying out to God for help. Yet in the middle of his distress, he prayed, “Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love.”Notice what David didn't ask for first. He didn't ask God to remove every problem, silence every enemy, or explain everything that was happening around him.He asked to be reminded of God's unfailing love.I think there's a lesson there for all of us.We don't always know what a new day will bring. There may be good news waiting for us, or there may be another burden to carry. There may be an answered prayer, or we may still be waiting on the Lord. But whatever this day holds, one thing remains unchanged: God's love is not determined by our circumstances. His faithfulness doesn't depend on how strong we feel this morning. His promises don't expire because yesterday was difficult. And His presence doesn't disappear simply because we cannot see what lies ahead. But there's something else in David's prayer that I don't want us to overlook.“Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life.”David wasn't simply asking God to make him feel better. He was asking God to lead him. There's a difference.Sometimes we come before the Lord with our plans already made, asking Him to bless the direction we've chosen. But David was willing to place the direction of his life in God's hands. That's where trust becomes more than something we talk about. It becomes something we live.I've spent enough years walking with people through hospital rooms, difficult decisions, personal struggles, and seasons of grief to know that we don't always get the answers we're looking for.But I've also learned that we don't have to know what tomorrow holds to trust the One who holds tomorrow. And that brings me back to something I try to practice in my own prayer life.Pray. Believe. Release.Pray about what is on your heart. Believe that God hears you. Then release the burden into His hands. That doesn't mean we stop caring or neglect our responsibilities. It means we stop trying to carry what belongs in God's hands. So, before you begin this day, before the demands of life start pulling you in every direction, spend a few quiet moments with the Lord.Open His Word. Remember His faithfulness. Ask Him to direct your steps. You may not know everything this day will bring, but you can begin it knowing that you are loved by a faithful God who has not abandoned you.In His loveray

Before the Day Begins

Faithfulness Over Fame
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” — 1 Corinthians 10:12 There is a danger that comes with Christian ministry that we do not talk about enough. It is possible to begin wanting to serve Jesus and, somewhere along the way, begin building something around ourselves.A ministry grows. People begin listening. Doors open. Invitations come. Money increases. Influence expands. People recognize your name.None of those things are necessarily wrong. But none of them are proof that God is pleased, either.Somewhere along the way, we have allowed success to become one of the ways we measure ministry. We count attendance, followers, views, offerings, buildings, programs, and platforms.Jesus counted faithfulness. That is a very different measurement. The Gospel was never intended to become a product, and the pulpit was never intended to become a platform for personal ambition.Jesus did not tell His disciples to build an empire. He told them to follow Him.“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” — Matthew 16:24That does not sound much like celebrity Christianity. It sounds like surrender. We Need AccountabilityOne of the most dangerous places a Christian leader can ever reach is the place where nobody feels free to tell him the truth.Every pastor needs someone who can ask difficult questions.Every ministry needs accountability.Every Christian leader needs people around him who love him enough to say, “Brother, you are wrong.”Accountability is not an attack on a calling. It is protection for the one who has been called. The moment a preacher becomes too important to question, something has already gone terribly wrong. Our loyalty must always be to Christ and His Word before it is to any personality, preacher, church, denomination, or ministry. The church belongs to Jesus. Not to us.Character Still MattersPublic ministry can sometimes hide private weakness.A person may preach a powerful sermon on Sunday and still be struggling deeply on Monday. That is why character matters more than reputation.Reputation is what people think we are.Character is what God knows we are.And sooner or later, what has been hidden has a way of coming into the light. That does not mean Christians never fail.We do.Pastors fail.Preachers fail.Church leaders fail.I fail. The question is not whether we will ever stumble. The question is what we do when we do.Do we tell the truth?Do we repent?Do we accept correction?Do we make things right where we can?Or do we protect the image we have created?Never sacrifice your integrity trying to protect your reputation.Your reputation belongs to people.Your integrity belongs to God.Grace Does Not Remove ConsequencesWe sometimes misunderstand grace.Grace does not mean nothing happened.Grace does not erase every consequence.Grace does not instantly restore trust that took years to build and moments to destroy.Grace means repentance is still possible.Grace means failure does not have to be the final chapter.Grace means God can still meet a broken man on his knees. But genuine repentance does more than say, “I am sorry.”It produces humility. It accepts responsibility. It stops making excuses. It tells the truth.Scripture reminds us:“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” — Galatians 6:7We can receive mercy and still live with consequences. Those two truths do not contradict one another. The Church Does Not Need More CelebritiesThe church does not need another Christian celebrity. It needs servants.Men and women who love Jesus more than recognition.Pastors who care more about sheep than platforms.Preachers who would rather be faithful in a small church than famous before thousands.Leaders who can be corrected.Christians who would rather lose an audience than compromise the truth. The strongest ministry is not necessarily the largest ministry.Sometimes the strongest ministry is the pastor quietly praying beside a hospital bed.The believer carrying groceries to a struggling family. The grandmother praying every morning for her grandchildren. The Sunday school teacher opening the Bible before six children. The chaplain sitting silently beside someone whose world has just fallen apart.Heaven measures things differently than we do.What Will Remain? One day the buildings will belong to somebody else. The social media accounts will go silent. The sermons will stop being preached. The crowds will move on.Our names will eventually be forgotten. And that is all right.Because ministry was never supposed to be about making our name great. It was always supposed to be about His.When everything else is stripped away, the question will not be:“How big was your ministry?”“How many people followed you?”“How much money did you raise?”“How well known was your name?”The question that matters is much simpler:Were you faithful to Jesus? That is the legacy worth leaving. Not an empire. Not a platform. Not a brand.A life that pointed people to Christ.May those of us who serve Him never confuse popularity with His approval, financial success with spiritual maturity, or influence with faithfulness.May we remain humble enough to be corrected, honest enough to repent, and faithful enough to keep Jesus at the center of everything we do.Because the Gospel we proclaim with our lips must also be reflected in the lives we live. And when our work here is finished, may people remember far less about us—and far more about Jesus.

Faithfulness Over Fame

Our Daily Devotion - Still in the Potter’s Hands
“Yet You, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.” — Isaiah 64:8There are days when I can see every flaw in myself.I remember the things I should have done differently. Words I wish I had chosen more carefully. Opportunities I missed. Weaknesses I thought I would have overcome by now. Places in my life where I know God is still working. And sometimes we can be much harder on ourselves than God ever intended. We look at the unfinished places and call ourselves failures.God looks at those same places and says, “I’m still working.”Isaiah gives us a beautiful picture: God is the Potter, and we are the clay.Clay on a potter’s wheel does not decide what it will become. It does not shape itself. It simply remains in the potter's hands. And that may be one of the hardest lessons of the Christian life.We want God to finish us quickly. We want the rough edges gone today. We want the struggle over. We want maturity without the process, strength without the stretching, and character without the pressure that produces it.But the Potter is never hurried. He knows exactly what He is making. There are times He applies pressure. There are times He reshapes something. Sometimes He removes something that does not belong. And sometimes, from our perspective, it can feel as though everything has been pressed out of shape. But the clay has not been abandoned. It is still in His hands. And notice something important in Isaiah’s words:“Yet You, Lord, are our Father.”The Potter is also our Father. These are not the hands of someone indifferent toward us. These are the hands of the One who loves us.God does correct us. Scripture is clear about that. He convicts us of sin. He calls us to repentance. He changes our hearts, our attitudes, our desires, and sometimes the direction of our entire lives. But His correction is not rejection. His shaping is evidence that we belong to Him.A good father does not abandon his child because the child has more growing to do. And our Heavenly Father does not discard us because we are still becoming what He has called us to be.Some of us need to remember that today. You may not be where you want to be yet. Neither am I.There are things God is still teaching me. Places where He is still humbling me. Weaknesses where I still need His strength. Rough places that still need the Potter's touch. That does not give me permission to remain unchanged. But it also does not give me permission to condemn what God is still shaping. The Apostle Paul said: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6God finishes what He starts. So perhaps today we need to stop staring at everything unfinished and start trusting the hands that are finishing. The Potter has not walked away from the wheel. His hands are still on you. When you stumble, His hands are there. When you are weary, His hands are there. When you cannot understand what He is doing, His hands are there. When you look at your life and see nothing but an unfinished piece of clay, remember that the Potter already knows what He intends it to become. So be patient with the process.Keep surrendering.Keep listening.Keep obeying.Keep returning to the Word.Keep allowing God to press, shape, correct, strengthen, and mold your life according to His will. And perhaps, today, be a little more gracious with yourself. Not because sin does not matter. Not because growth does not matter. But because grace matters too.You are still in the Potter’s hands. You’re not a mistake He’s trying to fix. You’re a masterpiece He’s still making.

Still in the Potter’s Hands

I Have Heard Your Prayer and Seen Your Tears
“Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord.’” — 2 Kings 20:5There are some prayers we pray with carefully chosen words. And then there are prayers that come with tears.Hezekiah had just received devastating news. The prophet Isaiah told him to put his house in order because his life was coming to an end. There was no softening of the message, no hopeful prognosis, and no encouraging report.Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall and prayed. And he wept.Sometimes that is all we have left.No great speech. No polished prayer. No strength to explain everything we are feeling. We simply turn toward God and cry.But before Isaiah had even left the palace courtyard, God spoke again.“I have heard your prayer and seen your tears.”Those words have stayed with me.God heard the prayer, but He also saw the tears. There are things we cannot put into words that God understands perfectly. There are burdens too heavy to explain, hurts too deep to describe, and moments when our tears say more than our mouths ever could. And God sees them.Hezekiah received the answer he desperately wanted. God healed him and added years to his life. But we need to be careful here. This passage is not a promise that every sickness will be healed in this life or that every prayer will be answered exactly as we ask. I have stood beside enough hospital beds, prayed with enough families, and watched enough faithful believers suffer to know better than to offer people a promise God has not made.Sometimes God heals.Sometimes God sustains.Sometimes God delivers us from the fire.Sometimes He walks with us through it.But He always hears His children. He always sees. And He is never indifferent to our tears.Maybe today you are carrying something you cannot fix. Maybe the report was not what you hoped for. Maybe you have prayed until you do not know what else to say. Then pray what you can.And if all you have left are tears, let them fall. You do not have to convince God that you are hurting. You do not have to find the perfect words to get His attention. He already knows. He hears your prayer. He sees your tears. And whatever His answer may be, you can trust the heart of the One who hears you.So today, pray.Believe.And then release it into His hands. In His loveray
