“Two Moments, One Message” - Some days the Lord gives you moments that stop you in your tracks.Yesterday I received a message from a woman who has seen me around the hospital many times. She said she wanted to talk to me, but she was too intimidated…thought I looked “too important to approach.”I’ll be honest with you—that brought tears to my eyes. The idea that one of God’s children would hesitate to approach a shepherd who’s been called to serve her…that hit hard. No chaplain, no pastor, no servant of Christ should ever stand so tall that a weary soul feels too small.Because on Sunday—God had sent the exact opposite moment. During Sunday service, a preschooler slipped out of his parents’ grasp, and from the very back row came barreling toward me with his arms stretched wide. Thirty rows of believers between us, and that little boy never broke stride. He just leaped into my arms like I was his safe place. His parents were mortified. I just said, “Please—it’s okay.” Then I told the church, “Let the little children come to me.” Two moments. One message.And the message wasn’t about me.One adult afraid to approach. One child who didn’t hesitate for a second.And the Lord whispered to my heart: “This is the difference between religion and relationship.”One measures worthiness. The other trusts love.If there’s anything I want people to know, it’s this: - I’m not the important one—Jesus is. - I’m not the answer—He is. - I’m not the One you seek—I’m just the evidence that He heard your prayers and sent someone to stand beside you. Thanksgiving Reflection — “Remembering the Goodness of God” Today isn’t just about turkey, family, or football—it’s about resetting our hearts and remembering the goodness of God who never stops giving.Psalm 100:5 reminds us, “For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.” That one verse is a whole sermon in a single breath. God is good—not sometimes, not only when life feels light, but all the time. His love doesn’t run out, thin out, cool off, or expire. And His faithfulness doesn’t skip a generation. He’s been faithful to our grandparents, He’s faithful to us, and He’ll be faithful to our children long after today’s blessings are forgotten.Thanksgiving is an invitation to remember. To pause long enough to say, “Lord, You’ve carried me through more than I can count. You’ve given more than I deserve. “Are We a Post-Christian Nation?”Lately I’ve had this question weighing on my heart: Are we becoming a post-Christian nation?I’m not talking about politics or Christian nationalism—I’m talking about a nation that seems to be learning how to live without the God who has carried us this far.Some folks think the safest thing to do today is to keep their heads down, stay neutral, and hope the storm passes. But neutrality isn’t neutral. It’s surrender wrapped in silence.And here we are, during Thanksgiving week—a holiday built on gratitude to God—living in a culture that often celebrates blessings while ignoring the Blesser.So are we post-Christian?No, I don’t believe we are, but we are distracted, drifting toward a cultural Christianity that makes it possible to be comfortable without Him.As a nation, we may not be hostile to God—we’re numb. And numbness can be more dangerous than rebellion, because you don’t feel the danger until you’re already over the cliff.Still, there’s hope: God has always worked through a remnant. He doesn’t need a crowd.
