Faith isn’t proven when life is calm and predictable. It is revealed when the waves are still crashing and the wind hasn’t let up.Trusting Jesus doesn’t always mean waiting for circumstances to improve—it means stepping forward while the storm is still active, believing His presence is enough to sustain you.The disciples learned that faith grows not in still waters, but in moments when obedience requires courage. Even when the sea is rough, Christ remains near, steady, and trustworthy.Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you.In His love and grace, ray

Walking with Jesus - Trust in the Storm

Walking with Jesus - Your Kindness Doesn't Go Unnoticed by God"For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."— Hebrews 6:10 KJVThink of an act of kindness you have never forgotten. Perhaps someone made time to listen, brought you a meal, visited when you were lonely, prayed when you were hurting, or simply remembered to ask how you were really doing. They may have gone home believing they had done very little—but you still remember.Hebrews 6:10 gives us an even greater reassurance: God remembers too. There are times when serving others feels unnoticed and unappreciated. You keep praying, encouraging, visiting, giving, and helping, yet no one seems to recognize the sacrifice involved. You may even wonder whether what you are doing makes any difference. But God sees what others overlook. He sees the phone call you made when you were tired. He sees the quiet prayer no one else heard. He sees the meal you delivered, the hand you held, and the encouragement you offered when you were struggling yourself. He also sees the countless acts of faithfulness you have already forgotten. This verse is not teaching that we earn God’s love through good works. We serve because He has already loved us through Jesus Christ. Our care for others becomes one way of expressing our love for Him. What we might call “just helping” may actually be our heart saying, “Lord, I love You.”Jesus made this truth clear:“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40That gives eternal meaning to the ordinary things we do today. You may never know how much your encouragement helped. You may not see the difference your patience made or learn what happened after you prayed. Not every seed produces fruit where the person who planted it can see—but God does not lose track of a single seed planted in love.Hebrews 6:10 also says that His people “continue to help.” Faithful service is not one grand gesture made before an audience. More often, it is choosing to love again tomorrow. It is continuing to show up, pray, encourage, and care—even when the work feels repetitive or the results remain hidden.Perhaps you are tired today. Perhaps you have quietly wondered whether anyone notices or whether your service still matters.God notices. God remembers. And God is not unjust. So let the love you have received through Jesus become love that someone else can receive through you. Serve without needing applause. Give without keeping score. Love without demanding recognition. When the day is finished, take heart: God remembers every act of love—including the ones you have forgotten.Ask Yourself Is there someone God has placed on my heart whom I can encourage or help today?Am I willing to keep serving faithfully even when no one notices or thanks me?Today’s Challenge Do one quiet act of kindness today without announcing it or expecting anything in return. Let it be a simple expression of love to God through service to someone He loves.Prayer Father, thank You for seeing the things others may never notice. Forgive me when I become discouraged because my service seems unappreciated. Remind me that I am not serving for recognition but because You first loved me. Give me eyes to see those who need encouragement and a willing heart to help them. May the love You have shown me through Jesus flow through my life to others. Help me remain faithful, knowing that You see, You remember, and nothing done in Your name is ever wasted. In Jesus’ name, amen.Walking with Jesus means faithfully loving the people He places along our path—even when no one but God sees it.

The Humble Power of the Holy Spirit
Primary Text: John 16:13–14 Supporting Texts: John 14:26; Galatians 5:22–23; Acts 1:8; 1 John 4:1Central Truth: The Holy Spirit does not draw attention to Himself—or to us. He works within us so that Jesus Christ will be glorified through us.Key Question: How can we recognize the genuine work of the Holy Spirit?Introduction: Who Is in the Spotlight? There is much discussion in the Church about being filled with the Holy Spirit. Much of that conversation centers on spiritual gifts, emotional experiences, signs, wonders, and dramatic manifestations. But Jesus gave us a clear standard for evaluating everything that claims to be a work of the Spirit:“He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.” —John 16:14The Holy Spirit is not seeking the spotlight. He does not promote personalities, create spiritual celebrities, or turn worship into a performance. The Holy Spirit does not come to make much of us. He comes to make much of Jesus.1. The Holy Spirit Exalts Christ“He will glorify Me.” —John 16:14The central ministry of the Holy Spirit is to reveal and glorify Jesus Christ. The Spirit directs our attention toward:The person of Christ The work of Christ The words of Christ The cross of Christ The resurrection of Christ The lordship of Christ Whenever a ministry, experience, or spiritual gift makes the messenger more prominent than the Savior, something has gone wrong.A person truly filled with the Spirit will not continually declare, “Look at what God is doing through me.” The testimony of a Spirit-filled life is, “Look at Jesus.”Application: When people encounter us, are they impressed with us—or are they drawn closer to Christ?Preaching statement: The Holy Spirit never competes with Jesus for glory; He reveals Jesus in all His glory.2. The Holy Spirit Leads Us into Truth“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” —John 14:26The Holy Spirit does not lead believers away from Scripture in pursuit of something newer, more exciting, or more spectacular. He opens our understanding of the truth God has already given. He brings Christ’s words to our remembrance—not merely as information, but as living truth that shapes our decisions, attitudes, relationships, and conduct. The Spirit may move upon our emotions, but He never bypasses truth. He will never contradict the Word He inspired.Application: Every teaching, prophecy, impression, and spiritual claim must be examined under the authority of Scripture.Preaching statement: If an experience contradicts the Word of God, it did not come from the Spirit of God.3. The Holy Spirit Produces Christlike Fruit“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” —Galatians 5:22–23Visible manifestations are not, by themselves, proof that someone is filled with the Holy Spirit. Scripture points us toward something deeper and more enduring: spiritual fruit.Fruit grows quietly. It does not need a platform, a microphone, or an audience. It becomes visible through:Godly character Humble obedience Genuine repentance Patient endurance Forgiveness Self-control Faithfulness when no one is watching The best evidence of the Spirit’s work is often revealed after the church service is over—when we return home, face temptation, deal with difficult people, forgive those who hurt us, and serve without recognition.Application: We should not only ask, “What gifts do I possess?” We must also ask, “What fruit is my life producing?”Preaching statement: Gifts may reveal what God enables us to do; fruit reveals what God is making us become.4. The Holy Spirit Empowers Us to Witness“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me.” —Acts 1:8The Holy Spirit gives power, but that power is not given for personal attention, spiritual status, or self-promotion. It is given so that we may bear witness to Jesus Christ. The Spirit empowered ordinary believers to:Proclaim the Gospel boldly Endure persecution faithfully Love their enemies graciously Serve others sacrificially Remain faithful even unto death His presence did not make the early disciples celebrities. It made them servants. The power of the Holy Spirit is not merely the power to perform something spectacular. It is the power to remain faithful, speak the truth, resist temptation, love the unlovable, and testify about Jesus.Application: Are we seeking the Spirit’s power so people will notice us—or so people will know Christ?Preaching statement: The Spirit’s power is not given to build our platform; it is given to advance Christ’s Kingdom.5. The Holy Spirit Gives Us Discernment“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God.” -1 John 4:1Not everything called spiritual comes from the Holy Spirit. Not every emotional response is an anointing, and not every spectacular claim is evidence of God’s presence.Scripture commands us to test what we hear and see.We should prayerfully ask:Does it agree with Scripture? Does it exalt Jesus Christ? Does it produce holiness and obedience? Does it cultivate humility? Does it point people toward the Savior or toward the person claiming the experience? We must not confuse:Excitement with anointing Emotion with transformation Popularity with spiritual authority Spectacle with God’s presence Spiritual gifts with spiritual maturity Application: Biblical discernment does not reject everything supernatural, but neither does it accept every claim without testing it against Scripture.Preaching statement: The genuine work of the Holy Spirit can withstand the examination of the Holy Scriptures. Conclusion: Let Them See JesusThe surest evidence that the Holy Spirit is working within us is not that people become impressed with us. It is that they begin to see more of Jesus in us:His love in the way we treat people His humility in the way we serve His truth in the way we speak His holiness in the way we live His grace in the way we forgive His faithfulness in the way we endure The Holy Spirit does not come to make us famous. He comes to make us faithful. He does not come to put us in the spotlight. He comes so that the light of Christ may shine through us.The question is not merely, “Have I had a spiritual experience?”The greater question is, “Can others see more of Jesus in me because of the Spirit’s work within me?”Call to ResponseToday, let us ask the Holy Spirit to:Turn our attention back to Jesus Deepen our love for Scripture Convict us of hidden sin Produce Christlike fruit within us Give us power to witness Protect us from spiritual deception Make our lives faithful testimonies of Christ Closing ChallengeDo not seek an experience that makes much of you. Seek the work of the Holy Spirit that makes Jesus visible through you.Closing PrayerDear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift and presence of the Holy Spirit. Give us discernment so that we are not deceived by emotional displays, spiritual pride, or experiences that cannot withstand the truth of Your Word.Holy Spirit, lead us into truth, convict us of sin, produce Your fruit within us, and give us power to be faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ. Remove from us every desire for recognition and personal glory. May everything we say and do point others away from us and toward the Savior who redeemed us.Let others see the love, humility, truth, holiness, and grace of Jesus in our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Walking with Jesus - Pray, Believe & Release“Prayer isn’t about convincing God to do my will. It’s about trusting God to do His.” — ray mileurThis one hits close to home because I have had to learn this lesson the hard way—more than once. There have been seasons when I prayed with my mind already made up about how God “should” answer. I wasn’t truly surrendering—I was negotiating. I was handing God a script and asking Him to follow it.And when He didn’t, I felt frustrated, disappointed, and sometimes even quietly resentful—though I would never have admitted it out loud.Over time, I have learned that prayer is not about convincing God to agree with me. It is about bringing my desires honestly before Him and trusting that His wisdom is greater than mine. The moment I truly release something to God, peace begins to replace anxiety—even before the answer comes.Releasing does not mean I stop caring. It means I stop trying to control the outcome. It means I stop trying to force God’s hand and begin trusting God’s heart. Some of the best answers to prayer in my life did not look like answers at first. They looked like delays. They looked like closed doors. Sometimes they looked like “no” when I was desperately praying for “yes.”But looking back, I can see that God was protecting me, redirecting me, and shaping me in ways I never would have chosen for myself. That is why I am learning to pray these days differently. I still bring my needs to God. I still ask boldly. I still believe He is able. But I finish my prayers with open hands instead of clenched fists.“Lord, I trust You with the answer. I trust You with the timing. And I trust You with the outcome—even when it is not what I hoped for.”Faith is not believing that God will always do what I ask. Faith is believing that God is still good even when He does not seem to be.Pray boldly. Believe completely. Then release the outcome into the hands of the One who sees what you cannot and knows what is best. Learn to pray, believe, and release. That is not giving up. That is growing up in faith.Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you.In His love and grace, ray mileur“Helping believers walk closer to Jesus, one day at a time.”

Daily Devotion: You Were Never Meant to Carry It“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 Have you ever noticed how worry follows you around? You can leave the house, change the subject, turn on the television, or try to keep yourself busy—but the worry is still there. Perhaps it concerns a bill you cannot yet pay, a medical test you are waiting on, someone you love, or a conversation you keep replaying in your mind.We tell ourselves we are handling it, but often, we are simply carrying it.We carry it into our work. We carry it into our conversations. We carry it to the dinner table, and then we carry it to bed. Even when our bodies are exhausted, our minds keep working, trying to solve problems that are beyond our control. Then Peter gives us this instruction:“Cast all your anxiety on Him.”The word cast is not passive. It carries the idea of throwing or placing a heavy burden onto someone strong enough to carry it. God is not asking us to pretend the burden is light. He is telling us to stop trying to carry it alone. Not some of our anxiety. Not only the spiritual concerns. Not merely the worries we consider important enough to bring before God.All of it.But this verse is often separated from the words immediately before it:“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.” — 1 Peter 5:6Casting our cares upon God is an act of humility. Worry often convinces us that everything depends upon us—that if we think long enough, work hard enough, or maintain enough control, we can prevent the worst from happening.Humility admits, “Lord, I cannot carry this. I do not know what tomorrow holds, but I know that You do.”Faith does not mean that we deny the reality of our problems. It means we place those problems into the hands of the One who is greater than they are.And Peter gives us the reason we can trust Him:“Because He cares for you.”God does not merely care about humanity in general. He cares for you personally. The God who holds the universe together knows what kept you awake last night. He knows the prayer you have been afraid to pray. He understands the burden you cannot explain to anyone else. You are not an interruption to God. Your tears do not inconvenience Him, and your repeated prayers do not exhaust His patience.Sometimes we cast a burden upon the Lord only to pick it back up a few minutes later. The anxious thought returns, and before we realize it, we are carrying the same weight again. When that happens, cast it upon Him again.Prayer is not always a single moment of surrender. Sometimes it is the repeated decision to place the same concern back into God’s hands every time fear tries to reclaim it.This does not mean we ignore our responsibilities. We still make the telephone call, keep the appointment, pay what we can, apologize when necessary, and take whatever faithful step God places before us. But we refuse to carry the part that belongs only to Him.We do what we can—and trust God with what we cannot.Whatever is weighing upon your heart today, bring it honestly before the Lord. Name it. Release it. Then remind yourself that the burden is now in hands far stronger than yours.God is not asking you to have every answer. He is asking you to trust the One who does. You were never meant to carry it alone.Let us PrayHeavenly Father, I confess that I often carry burdens You have invited me to place into Your hands. I worry about tomorrow, replay yesterday, and try to control things that are beyond my strength.Today, I cast every fear, concern, and unanswered question upon You. Give me wisdom to do what is mine to do and faith to trust You with everything else. When anxiety returns, remind me that You are near, You are faithful, and You care for me.In Jesus’ name, amen. Walking with Jesus TodayName the burden you have been carrying. Pray about it specifically, take the next faithful step you can, and place the outcome into God’s hands. You do not have to carry tomorrow’s burdens with today’s strength. Cast them upon the Lord—He cares for you.

Walking with Jesus — Love Covers“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”— 1 Peter 4:8For many years, I misunderstood this verse. I thought Peter was saying that love somehow covered my own sins before God. But our love cannot atone for sin. We are not saved because we have loved enough, forgiven enough, or performed enough good deeds.Only the blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse us from sin. Our forgiveness rests entirely in the grace of God and the finished work of Christ upon the cross.Peter is teaching us something different. He is showing us how people who have received grace should treat one another.“Above all,” he writes, “love each other deeply.” This is not a shallow love built upon feelings or convenience. It is an earnest, enduring love that continues even when relationships become difficult. Peter knew that wherever people live, worship, and serve together, there will be offenses. Words will be spoken carelessly. Feelings will be hurt. Mistakes will be made. People will disappoint one another.Love does not keep every offense alive. When Scripture says that love “covers” sin, it does not mean that we excuse wrongdoing, hide abuse, ignore dangerous behavior, or refuse to confront serious sin. Biblical love never requires us to protect evil or place someone else in harm’s way. There are times when truth must be spoken, boundaries must be established, and accountability must be required. But not every offense needs to be announced. Not every mistake needs to be repeated. Not every wrong needs to be stored away as ammunition for the next disagreement.Love refuses to expose another person simply to embarrass them. It does not gossip about their failure, celebrate their downfall, or weaponize their past. Love seeks forgiveness rather than revenge, restoration rather than humiliation, and peace rather than the satisfaction of proving someone wrong.Every one of us has needed that kind of mercy. We have all spoken words we wish we could take back. We have all made poor decisions, disappointed people, and fallen short of what God called us to be. Most importantly, we have all sinned against God. Yet through Jesus Christ, God has not treated us according to what our sins deserved. The grace we have received should shape the grace we extend. The world is quick to expose faults and slow to forgive. One mistake can be photographed, posted, shared, and remembered long after repentance has taken place. Christian love should look different. We do not join the crowd gathering stones when Christ has called us to carry grace.Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is quietly forgive an offense and let it end with us. No gossip. No public embarrassment. No keeping score. We simply place the matter in God’s hands and choose not to spread what love has given us the grace to cover.God covered our sins through the sacrifice of His Son. Remembering how completely we have been forgiven makes it a little easier to show mercy when others fail us.Quote of the Day“God covered my sins with grace. The least I can do is cover yours with love.” — ray mileur Let us prayDear Heavenly Father, thank You for the grace and forgiveness You have given me through Jesus Christ. Help me remember how much mercy I have received before I judge the failures of others. Give me wisdom to know when truth must be spoken and grace to know when an offense should be quietly forgiven. Guard my words from gossip and my heart from resentment. Teach me to love deeply, forgive freely, and seek restoration rather than embarrassment. May the way I treat others reflect the mercy You have shown me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
