“I have never stood in awe of anything I’ve done for God, but I live in awe of everything God has done through me. For it’s not my strength, wisdom, or effort that makes a difference—it’s His power working through my weakness. When we surrender our plans to Him, even the smallest act of obedience can become a testimony of His greatness. To God be the glory, not for what we do, but for what He does through us.” ~ ray (ray & grandaughter morgan in the mountains)

Christian Reflection - Living in Awe of God

Daily R.E.A.P. Report for Psalm 20:4 (ESV) God-Shaped Desires and PlansRead“May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans!” Psalm 20:4 (ESV)Psalm 20 is a royal psalm, traditionally attributed to David. It’s a congregational prayer for the king before battle—a community asking God to protect, guide, and give success to His anointed. The chapter highlights trust in God over military strength, culminating in, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God” (v. 7). Psalm 20 pairs with Psalm 21, where thanksgiving is offered after victory. This matters to your daily life because it shows a pattern: God’s people bring their desires and plans to Him, asking for success that aligns with His purposes. It reminds us that God cares about our goals and that true success comes from trusting Him, not just from our strategies.ExaminePsalm 20:4 is a blessing-prayer: may God give what your heart longs for and establish the plans you’ve made. In context, it’s not a blank check—it’s a prayer for desires and plans that flow from God’s calling and covenant. The verse reveals a God who is generous and attentive, yet wise and purposeful. He invites you to bring your deepest desires to Him and, in His love, He grants, reshapes, or redirects them so they lead to life and blessing.Connection to Jesus: Jesus is the ultimate “Anointed One” (Messiah) for whom the Father fulfilled every righteous plan. In Gethsemane, Jesus modeled perfect alignment with the Father: “Not my will, but yours be done.” He teaches, “If you abide in me… ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7)—not because God serves our whims, but because abiding shapes our wishes to mirror His heart. Through Christ, our desires are transformed, and our plans become part of God’s redemptive work.Main Themes: - Aligned Desires: God grants desires that are formed by a God-shaped heart. - Prayerful Planning: Plans are good, but they flourish when submitted to God. - Trust Over Self-Reliance: Success comes from God’s name and power, not our strength.Key Word Study: - Heart (Hebrew: lev/levav): The inner core—mind, will, affections. This is deeper than emotion; it’s the control center of your life. God aims to shape this center so that what you desire flows from His wisdom. - Plans/Counsel (Hebrew: etzah): Counsel, strategy, deliberate planning. The verse pictures thoughtful planning brought under God’s authority. “Fulfill” (male’) means to complete or bring to fullness—God doesn’t just start; He brings to completion what aligns with His will.ApplyReflective Questions: - What are the top two or three desires on my heart right now? Which feel God-inspired, and which may need refining? - If God delayed, redirected, or reshaped my plans, how would I respond? Would I trust His timing and wisdom? - How can my plans bless others and advance God’s purposes, not just benefit me?Real-Life Application: - Align Your Desires: Make a 10-minute “Desire Inventory.” List your key desires and plans. Mark each A (clearly aligns with God’s character and Scripture), B (unsure), or C (likely self-centered). Pray: “Lord, grant what honors You; reshape what doesn’t.” - Plan with Open Hands: Draft your next step, then add this line at the top: “Subject to the Lord’s redirection.” Schedule a weekly check-in to ask, “Is this still aligned with God’s leading?” - Seek Wise Counsel: Share one plan with a mature believer. Ask them to pray Psalm 20:4 over you and offer counsel (etzah). Adjust your plan with humility.PrayDear Heavenly Father, I praise You as the generous Giver who knows my heart and completes every good purpose in Your time. I confess that I often cling to my own timelines and ambitions, seeking control rather than Your counsel. Forgive me for planning without prayer and desiring without discernment. Today, align my heart with Yours. Grant the desires that honor You, and lovingly reshape the ones that don’t. Fulfill the plans that serve Your kingdom and bless others. By Your Spirit, give me wisdom to plan, humility to listen, courage to obey, and perseverance to wait. In Jesus’ name, Amen.Closing Reflection: Picture rolling out your life’s blueprints on a table before your King. He smiles, takes His pen, and traces some lines, adjusts others, and signs His name across the page. Where His signature rests, there is peace, provision, and purpose. Walk forward with those plans—He goes with you.Call to Action: Choose one desire today. Write it down, pray Psalm 20:4 over it, and take one faithful step—or pause if God prompts a change. Trust that your loving Father is crafting something good as you place your plans in His hands.

God-Shaped Desires and Plans

False prophets will use spiritual blackmail — twisting Scripture, manipulating emotions, and claiming divine authority to control or coerce believers. They threaten curses for disobedience, promise blessings for loyalty, and present themselves as the only “voice of God.” But this is not the Spirit of Christ.“They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity…” — 2 Peter 2:19True shepherds point people to Jesus; false prophets point people to themselves. They trade in fear, not faith. They hold people hostage with guilt, claiming that to question them is to question God Himself. The gospel offers freedom, not bondage. Christ’s voice calls us to trust, not terror; to surrender to His will, not to human manipulation. If a message binds you to a man rather than to the Savior, it is not from heaven.Guard your heart. Test every spirit. Measure every message by the Word of God. The Lord never needs deceit or fear to lead His people — only truth and love.Dear Lord, open open the eyes my people to discern truth from deception. Free them from any voice that seeks to control rather than to guide. Help them to follow You, the true Shepherd, who leads by grace and truth. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.In His love, ray

False Prophets & Spiritual Blackmail

To begin with, it is important to clarify the meaning of the term "Christian." A “Christian” is not simply someone who has recited a prayer, walked down an aisle, or grown up in a Christian household. Although these actions may be part of a person's Christian journey, they do not define what it means to be a Christian. A Christian is an individual who has completely placed their trust in Jesus Christ as their sole Savior and, as a result, has received the Holy Spirit (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8–9).Given this definition, can a Christian forfeit their salvation? This question is of utmost significance. One effective approach to address it is by exploring what the Bible describes happens during salvation and investigating what it would mean to lose one's salvation.# 1 - (A Christian is a new creation in Christ.) “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). A Christian is not simply a "new" & “improved” version of a person; a Christian is an entirely new creature. He is “in Christ.” For a Christian to lose salvation, the new creation would have to be destroyed.#2 - (A Christian is justified). “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1). To justify means to be declared righteous. Anyone who accepts Jesus as their Savior is “declared righteous” by God. For a Christian to lose their salvation, God would need to contradict His Word and “un-declare” what He has previously declared. Those who have been freed from guilt would need to be tried again and found guilty. God would have to overturn the verdict rendered from the divine bench.# 3 - (A Christian is promised eternal life.) “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Eternal life is the promise of spending forever in heaven with God. God promises that if you believe, you will have eternal life. For a Christian to lose salvation, eternal life would have to be redefined. The Christian is promised to live forever. Does eternal not mean “eternal”?#4 - (A Christian is Promised Eternal Life) -“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Eternal life is the promise of spending forever in heaven with God. God assures us that if we believe, we will have eternal life. For a Christian to lose their salvation, the concept of eternal life would have to be redefined. A Christian is promised to live forever. Does "eternal" not mean "eternal"?#5 - (A Christian is marked by God and sealed by the Spirit.) “You were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Upon believing, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who serves as a deposit ensuring our inheritance until the redemption of those who belong to God—to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13–14). At the moment of faith, the new believer is marked and sealed with the Spirit, who has been promised to act as a deposit to assure the heavenly inheritance. Ultimately, this leads to the glorification of God. For a Christian to lose their salvation, God would need to erase the mark, withdraw the Spirit, nullify the deposit, break His promise, revoke the guarantee, withhold the inheritance, forfeit the praise, and diminish His glory.#6 - (A Christian is guaranteed glorification.) “Those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified” (Romans 8:30). According to Romans 5:1, justification is granted to us at the moment of faith. Romans 8:30 indicates that glorification occurs alongside justification. All those whom God justifies are assured of being glorified. This promise will be fulfilled when Christians receive their perfect resurrection bodies in heaven. If a Christian can lose their salvation, it contradicts this assurance.#7 - (A Christian is unable to lose their salvation.) The Biblical teachings about what occurs when we accept Christ would lose their validity if salvation could be forfeited. Salvation is a divine gift, and such gifts from God are “irrevocable” (Romans 11:29). A Christian cannot revert back to their former self; those redeemed cannot be unbought. Eternal life cannot be finite. God remains true to His Word. Scripture confirms that God does not deceive (Titus 1:2).The problem with these objections lies in the assumption that everyone who identifies as a “Christian” has truly been born again. The Bible clearly states that a genuine Christian will not live in a state of continual, unrepentant sin (1 John 3:6). Additionally, it says that anyone who departs from the faith is demonstrating they were never truly a Christian (1 John 2:19). While they may have been religious or put on a good show, they were never born again by the power of God. As the Bible puts it, “By their fruit you will recognize them” (Matthew 7:16). The redeemed of God belong “to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God” (Romans 7:4).Nothing can separate a child of God from the Father’s love (Romans 8:38–39). No one can snatch a Christian out of God’s hand (John 10:28–29). God guarantees eternal life and upholds the salvation He has given us. The Good Shepherd searches for the lost sheep, and when He finds it, “He joyfully puts it on His shoulders and goes home” (Luke 15:5–6). The lamb is found, and the Shepherd gladly carries the burden; our Lord takes full responsibility for bringing the lost one safely home.Jude 1:24–25 emphasizes the goodness and faithfulness of our Savior: “To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”Jude 1:24–25 emphasizes the goodness and faithfulness of our Savior: “To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”

Can a Christian lose their Salvation?

Daily R.E.A.P. Report for Philippians 4:6–7 (ESV) Exchanging Anxiety for God’s PeaceRead “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6–7 (ESV)Philippians is a warm, joy-filled letter from the Apostle Paul to the church in Philippi, written from prison (likely in Rome around AD 60–62). Paul thanks them for their partnership in the gospel and encourages them to live with unity, joy, and steadfast faith. In chapter 4, he urges believers to rejoice in the Lord, to be gentle, and to replace anxiety with prayerful trust. These verses matter because they offer a practical pathway from worry to peace—God’s peace—which actively protects our inner life as we live in Christ.Examine God invites you to bring every concern to Him—not suppressing it, but transforming it through prayer, specific requests, and gratitude. The result isn’t merely a calmer feeling; it’s the peace of God Himself, beyond human analysis, actively guarding your heart and mind. This reveals God’s loving character: near, attentive, and strong enough to secure your inner world.Connection to Jesus: Jesus taught against anxiety (Matthew 6:25–34) and promised His unique peace (John 14:27). Through His death and resurrection, He reconciles us to God—the source of true peace. In Christ, you are welcomed to pray boldly, and His presence becomes the “garrison” around your thoughts and emotions.Main Themes: - Trust over Anxiety: Worry diminishes when trust in God increases through prayer. - Prayer with Thanksgiving: Gratitude shifts perspective, reminding us of God’s past faithfulness and current care. - God’s Guarding Peace: Peace isn’t passive—it’s protective, actively standing watch over your inner life.Key Word Study: - “Be anxious” (Greek: merimnao): To be divided, pulled apart, or distracted. Anxiety splits our focus; prayer reunites it around God. - “Will guard” (Greek: phroureo): A military term meaning to garrison or stand sentry. God’s peace doesn’t merely soothe; it actively protects your heart and mind in Christ.ApplyReflective Questions: - What specific worry is pulling my thoughts in different directions today? - How can I turn that worry into a concrete, thankful prayer right now? - Where have I seen God’s faithfulness before, and how can remembering that fuel my trust today?Real-Life Application: - Turn Worry into Prayer: Write down one pressing concern. Under it, list three reasons to thank God (past provision, people who help, His promises). Then pray your concern back to Him specifically. - Schedule a Peace Pause: Set two alarms today labeled “Pray + Thank.” When they go off, take 60 seconds to present one request and thank God for one blessing. - Guard Your Inputs: If certain news or social media increases anxiety, replace one scroll time with a 5-minute Scripture meditation (read these verses aloud and breathe slowly).PrayFather, I praise You as the God of peace who is near and attentive. I confess I often carry worries instead of casting them on You. Forgive my anxious striving and my forgetfulness of Your faithfulness. Today I bring You these concerns: [name them]. I thank You for Your past provisions, for the people You’ve placed in my life, and for Your promises in Christ. By Your Spirit, guard my heart and mind. Teach me to pray with gratitude and to walk in the peace Jesus gives. Strengthen me to respond to challenges with trust, not fear. In Jesus’ name, amen.Closing Reflection: Picture your heart as a city at dawn. Worries try to sneak in through side streets, but Christ posts a mighty guard at every gate. As you pray with thanksgiving, the walls strengthen and the streets grow quiet. God’s peace patrols your thoughts, keeping them safe in His love.Call to Action: Right now, choose one worry, write it down, and pray Philippians 4:6–7 over it with three thanksgivings. Memorize these verses this week and let them become your go-to response whenever anxiety knocks. God is with you, and His peace is ready to stand guard.

Exchanging Anxiety for God’s Peace

SERMON OUTLINE - From Cultural Christianity to True ConversionThere is a kind of Christianity that is deeply embedded in our culture. It shows up in holiday gatherings, in family traditions, in moral language, and even in the box people check on surveys. It is a Christianity that is familiar — but not necessarily saving. Many carry the label of “Christian” the way one carries a last name — inherited rather than experienced. But Christianity is not a cultural badge; it is a saving encounter with the living Christ.Jesus spoke of people who honored God with their lips while their hearts were far from Him. That warning was not for pagans — it was for religious people. Cultural Christianity is faith by association, not by regeneration. It knows the words but not the new birth. And so with gentle but needed honesty, we turn our hearts before God and ask: Have I inherited a label, or have I been made new in Christ?I. WHAT IS CULTURAL CHRISTIANITY?Cultural Christianity is when someone identifies as Christian because of background, geography, or tradition — rather than because of repentance and faith in Christ. It is possible to grow up around Scripture, around church, and around Christian influence without ever bowing one’s life to Christ.Isaiah 29:13 describes such a condition: “This people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men.” (ESV)Cultural Christianity wears Christ’s name without surrendering to His rule. It can attend worship without worshiping, speak Christian words without a changed heart, and know about Jesus without ever having been born again.II. SIGNS OF CULTURAL CHRISTIANITYThis is not for accusation but for examination. Scripture calls us to "examine yourselves, whether you be in the faith" (2 Corinthians 13:5). Cultural Christianity often reveals itself by a lack of spiritual hunger — no desire for the Word, no pursuit of prayer, no growing obedience. Faith becomes something in the past rather than a living present reality. One can maintain morality or sentiment about Jesus but remain unsurrendered. Outward forms are intact while inward life is absent.III. WHAT TRUE CHRISTIANITY PRODUCESTrue Christianity is not mere improvement but new creation. When Christ takes hold of a life, He changes the direction of it. There is a turning — from self to Christ, from sin to grace, from independence to dependence. True believers are not perfect people, but they are changed people. There is a new affection for Christ, a new war against sin, a new willingness to obey. Where Christ reigns, fruit follows — love, humility, repentance, mercy, and persevering faith.True Christianity is not measured by what one once prayed, but by Who one now follows.IV. WHY THIS MATTERSCultural Christianity is not a harmless middle ground — it is a spiritual counterfeit. It allows souls to rest in a name without the new birth Christ declared essential. Jesus did not come to season our lives with religion but to raise the dead to life. To wear His name without knowing Him is to miss Him entirely. Nothing is more urgent than to trade an inherited label for a living Lord.V. A GENTLE CALL TO HONEST SURRENDERThis is not a sermon for someone else; it is an invitation for the heart we each carry. God does not despise the honest soul who admits, “I have had the name without the life.” Grace meets the honest, not the polished. If today you sense that your faith has been cultural, God’s invitation is not condemnation but communion — to come to Christ not as a tradition but as the Treasure. The door of mercy is open still. The Savior who died does not call us to pretend, but to come. He stands ready to forgive, to cleanse, to receive, and to make new all who truly turn to Him.CONCLUSION & CLOSING PRAYERLord, search our hearts and show us what is true. Deliver us from empty profession and grant us the miracle of new birth. Make Christ more than a name to us — make Him our life, our Savior, our joy. Where there has been habit, give us holiness. Where there has been form, give us faith. And let us not merely call ourselves Christians — but truly belong to Christ. Amen.
