Bible Stories for Kids - The Ten Commandments
A long, long time ago, in a place called Egypt, there lived a man named Moses. Moses was a special man chosen by God to help the Israelites, who were God's people. They were working very hard as slaves in Egypt and were unhappy.
One day, God spoke to Moses. He asked Moses to climb to the top of a big mountain called Mount Sinai. Moses was excited and a little nervous, but he trusted God. When Moses reached the top, God spoke to him and gave him something very important—the Ten Commandments.
The Ten Commandments are like special rules that help everyone live happily together. They teach us how to love God and treat others kindly. Let's hear about them:
1. **Love God the most.** We should always put God first in our lives.
2. **No idols.** We don’t make or worship statues instead of God.
3. **Speak God's name with love.** We talk about God with respect.
4. **Remember the holy day.** We rest and think about God on the Sabbath.
5. **Honor your parents.** It’s important to respect and listen to your parents.
6. **Do not hurt others.** We must be kind and not hurt anyone.
7. **Be faithful.** Families and friends should be loyal to each other.
8. **Do not steal.** We take good care of our things and don’t take what isn't ours.
9. **Tell the truth.** Being honest is very important.
10. **Don't be jealous.** We are happy with what we have.
Moses took these commandments back to the people so they could learn and live by them. The Israelites were so happy because they knew these rules would help them live in peace and joy. And these commandments are still important for us today!
