Walking Wisely Before God With Our Words

“Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.” Ecclesiastes 5:2 (ESV):  

The book of Ecclesiastes, attributed to King Solomon, explores themes of meaning, purpose, and reverence before God. Written as wisdom literature, it invites readers into honest reflection about life’s fleeting nature and the pursuit of what truly matters. Chapter 5 discusses how we approach God, especially in worship and prayer, emphasizing humility and sincerity in His presence. As Solomon writes to a community prone to outward displays of religiosity, his words urge a genuine, thoughtful heart posture before the Creator.
