When Mary Needed to Hear from GodIt was a quiet afternoon when I made my way down the softly carpeted hallway of the assisted living facility. The air carried a faint scent of lavender and the gentle hum of distant conversation. As I approached one resident’s door, I noticed it was already open—almost expectantly, as if she had been waiting for a visitor, for a sign of hope. When I stepped inside, the late afternoon sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on the small, tidy room. There, in a comfortable armchair by the window, sat my friend Mary. Her hands trembled as she clutched her well-worn Bible, the gold edges of its pages glinting in the light. Tears traced silent paths down her cheeks. She looked up at me with eyes full of longing and vulnerability, her voice breaking as she sobbed, “Pastor Ray, I need to hear from God today.”I knelt down beside her, offering a gentle smile meant to reassure. Softly, I said, “Mary, I walk with Jesus, and I can help you.”For a moment, a flicker of confusion crossed her face, as if she wondered, Who is this man in a white cowboy hat coming to me with such confidence and peace?I pulled up a chair, sitting close enough that she could feel my presence. "Let me help," I offered, my voice steady and kind.Gently, I took the Bible from her quivering hands, careful not to lose the page she had been struggling to focus on. I turned the book toward me, my fingers resting on the passage, and began to read aloud—each word spoken slowly, letting its truth fill the stillness of the room.As the living Word of God filled the room, I could sense a holy hush settle over us. The Scripture seemed to wrap around Mary like a gentle embrace, bringing with it a peace that was almost tangible.Slowly, her sobs quieted. The tension in her face eased, and a softness returned to her features. Her breathing steadied. In those moments, I witnessed a transformation—a quiet miracle—as the burdens she carried seemed to lift, replaced by a sense of hope and calm.We all have moments when we open our Bibles, searching for comfort, but our minds are still tangled in a web of fears, grief, and unanswered questions. Sometimes, our eyes move over the words, but our hearts remain distant—unable to truly receive the hope within those sacred pages. On that day, Mary desperately needed to hear from God—not just with her ears, but with her weary heart. And in His gentle kindness, God sent a simple man in a white cowboy hat to be His vessel—to sit beside Mary, to read His Word aloud, and to remind her that she was not forgotten or alone. On that ordinary afternoon, in a small room filled with sunlight and longing, God’s will was done. Her prayer—spoken with trembling lips and a heavy heart—was answered. And once again, I was reminded: the Word of God is never silent. Sometimes, it simply waits for someone willing to speak it, for someone brave enough to step into a room and share hope. In doing so, we become part of God’s answer to another’s prayer.

When Mary Needed to Hear from God

Today’s Daily Devotion The Eternal Word“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 In the opening verse of John’s Gospel, we are invited to stand at the threshold of eternity and witness the majesty of Christ. The Word—Jesus—was not an afterthought or a reaction to humanity’s need, but the origin and foundation of all that exists. This is not just a theological statement; it is an invitation to behold the glory and mystery of God’s love revealed through His Son.“In the beginning was the Word.”With those simple but profound words, John takes us beyond the boundaries of time itself—before creation, before the first sunrise, before the stars were hung in the sky or the oceans whispered onto the shore. Before history had a name, before there was light or life, there was Jesus, the living Word. In that sacred silence, He existed in perfect unity with the Father and the Spirit, the very heartbeat of all that would ever be.Jesus was already there—timeless, changeless, the center of the universe before it was ever set in motion. He is the Author before the story, the Light before the dawn, the Love before the need for rescue.Genesis tells us that God spoke the world into existence, but John reveals the identity of the Speaker. The Word is not merely a sound or utterance; the Word is a person—One sent to embody the fullness of the Father’s heart. Jesus is the divine language of God—God’s love, wisdom, and power made visible. He is the voice of eternity stepping into time, the invisible made visible, holiness clothed in humanity. And in an act of unimaginable love, the eternal Word entered His own creation. The One who spoke galaxies into motion wrapped Himself in humble flesh. The voice that thundered across the cosmos later whispered peace to anxious hearts and called the weary back to hope. The hands that shaped the universe would one day reach out to touch lepers, lift the fallen, and ultimately bear the nails of our redemption. The feet that walked celestial halls would tread dusty roads, seeking the lost and loving the least. This truth is not distant theology—it is the heartbeat of hope. If the eternal Word entered our world, then every moment, every wound, every longing can be touched by His presence. That truth changes everything.Your life is not accidental. Your story is not overlooked. Every fear, every longing, every silent prayer has been known by Him from the beginning. Before your fears had names, He was already the answer. Before your burdens became heavy, He was already strong enough to carry them. Before you ever cried out to Him, He already knew your name and treasured your heart. And even now, the Word still speaks—alive and active, echoing across the ages, reaching into the quiet corners of our daily lives. He speaks through Scripture—living words that breathe hope and conviction. He speaks by the Holy Spirit—gentle whispers, timely nudges, and deep comfort. He speaks peace in the middle of confusion, truth in the middle of fear, and grace in the middle of our weakness. His voice brings clarity to our chaos, courage to our doubts, and promise to our pain. The question is not whether God is still speaking. He is. The question is whether we are making room to listen—quieting our hearts, silencing distractions, and tuning our ears to the eternal Word that longs to shape our days and renew our hope. The Lord be with you.

Ray Mileur Ministries Today’s Daily Devotion The Bread That Truly Satisfies By Ray Mileur“Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.’” John 6:35Have you ever stood in front of a refrigerator full of food and still felt empty? That may sound strange, but most of us know what that feels like. The shelves may be full, the pantry may be stocked, and the table may be set, yet deep inside there remains a hunger that food cannot touch. That is the hunger of the soul.Life without Jesus can feel that way. A person can be surrounded by activity, entertainment, success, possessions, plans, and people, yet still carry a quiet emptiness that nothing in this world seems able to satisfy. The world offers plenty of choices, but it cannot offer the Bread of Life.In John 6:35, Jesus does not offer us a temporary meal. He offers Himself. When He says, “I am the bread of life,” He is telling us that He alone can satisfy the deepest hunger of the human heart. He is not simply offering comfort for a hard day or encouragement for a difficult season. He is offering life, peace, grace, forgiveness, and a relationship with Him that reaches the places nothing else can reach.Jesus satisfies the weary soul.He brings peace that remains when life is uncertain. He gives joy that can stand even in sorrow. He offers love that reaches beyond our failures, our fears, and our past. He restores what is broken. He strengthens what is weak. He breathes life into hearts that have grown tired from trying to be filled by things that were never meant to satisfy.Coming to Jesus is not just a one-time moment. It is a daily walk.Every day, He invites us to come near. We bring Him our doubts, our fears, our burdens, our hopes, and even the empty places we do not always know how to explain. And every day, He meets us with fresh grace.Whatever is weighing on your heart today, remember this: Jesus is the Bread of Life. He does not merely give you something to get through the day. He gives you Himself. And in Him, the soul finds what it has been searching for all along. The Bread That Truly Satisfies

Walking with Jesus — Keep WalkingAfter thirty-one days, we have reached the end of the first mile. But let us remember this: the road of faith never truly ends. It stretches from this life into the next. Every step, every prayer, every act of obedience, every moment of surrender brings us closer to the One who walks before us and beside us.These thirty-one days were never meant to be a finish line. They were meant to be a foundation.Along the way, we have been reminded to follow, to trust, to rest, to listen, to obey, to rejoice, and to endure. We have learned that walking with Jesus is not about rushing ahead, falling behind in shame, or trying to prove ourselves worthy. It is about staying near to Him, one faithful step at a time. The same Jesus who called us at the beginning still whispers, “Follow Me.”You may not always walk quickly, but you can always walk faithfully. When the way is dark, His Word lights the next step. When the road is steep, His Spirit supplies the strength. When the path feels lonely, His presence is enough. So keep walking, my friends. The Savior who began this journey with you will see it through to glory. Let us pray.Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for walking with us each day through these past thirty-one days. Help us to keep pace with You, steady, faithful, and near. Teach us to trust You with every step until faith becomes sight and we walk with You forever. In Jesus Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you.In His love and grace, ray mileur“Helping believers walk closer to Jesus, one day at a time.” www.raymileurministries.com

Walking with Jesus — Keep Walking

Walking with Jesus — Day 31 Finishing the First Mile“And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6As we come to the end of these first thirty-one days, we are reminded that this is not the end of the journey. It is only the first mile.God has begun a good work in us, and what He begins, He does not abandon. His work is not careless, unfinished, or uncertain. He is shaping us according to His will, drawing us closer to His heart, and teaching us what it means to walk with Jesus one step at a time. This journey has never been about reaching perfection in thirty-one days. It has been about learning to walk in His presence. It has been about trusting Him in the morning, leaning on Him in the struggle, listening for His voice, returning when we stumble, and discovering that His grace is sufficient for every step. There will still be difficult days ahead. There will be moments when we feel weak, distracted, weary, or unsure of the road before us. But we can take comfort in this truth: God is not finished with us yet. He is still working. He is still guiding. He is still forming Christ within us.So let us keep moving forward in faith. The first mile is behind us, but the road ahead is still unfolding. And the same Lord who began this good work will be faithful to complete it until the day we stand in the presence of Jesus Christ. Let us pray.Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing us through this first mile and this first month of walking with Jesus. Keep us faithful for the road ahead. Strengthen us when we grow weary, guide us when the way is unclear, and help us trust the work You are doing in our lives. May we continue walking with You until the journey ends in Your presence. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray. Amen.Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you. Finishing the First Mile

Ray Mileur Ministries Bring Prayer Home By Ray Mileur“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children…” — Deuteronomy 6:6–7We have often said that the decline of America’s youth began when prayer was taken out of schools. But perhaps the deeper truth is this: the decline did not begin when prayer was taken out of the classroom. It began when prayer was taken out of the home — and treated as optional in the church. That is a hard truth, but sometimes the hard truth is the one that wakes us up.The first place a child should learn to pray is not in a school building. It should be at home — around the dinner table, beside the bed, in the living room, in the car, and in those quiet moments when life becomes heavy and hearts need direction. The first altar a child should know is not public. It is personal. It is the home.Deuteronomy reminds us that the Word of God must first be written on our own hearts before we can faithfully pass it on to the next generation. We cannot teach what we do not treasure. We cannot model what we do not live. We cannot expect our children and grandchildren to walk in truth if they rarely see us kneel in prayer.Today’s young people are facing trials and tribulations many of us never imagined at their age. They are growing up in a world filled with pressure, confusion, broken homes, anxiety, depression, loneliness, online cruelty, and constant noise. Voices from every direction are telling them who they should be, what they should believe, and where they should find their worth. And too often, we have expected the world to do what God entrusted to the home and the Church.Programs are not enough. Activities are not enough. Entertainment is not enough. Good intentions are not enough. Our children need prayer. They need Scripture. They need truth spoken in love. They need repentance modeled, forgiveness practiced, faith lived, and Jesus made visible in everyday life. They need parents, grandparents, pastors, teachers, and believers who will not only talk about faith, but walk in it.Joshua declared, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” That is not just a verse for a wall plaque. It is a decision. It is a daily commitment. It is a line drawn in the sand.We cannot expect the next generation to stand firm in a world of confusion if we have not first taught them how to kneel before God.The answer is not merely getting prayer back into schools. The answer begins with getting prayer back into our homes, back into our families, back into our churches, and back into our own hearts. In His love, ray
