Known by God, Free to Choose
Somewhere along the way, parts of the Church started talking about salvation like it was a lottery ticket God handed out before anyone was born.Names written down. Doors locked. Fates sealed. And if we’re honest, that picture makes God feel distant… almost cold. But that’s not the God I meet in Scripture. The God I see in the Bible calls, invites, pleads, warns, and reaches.“Choose this day.” “Come unto Me.” “Whosoever will.”Those aren’t the words of a God who already decided most people never had a chance. Those are the words of a Father holding the door open.Love only works if it’s chosen.Forced love isn’t love — it’s programming.God didn’t create robots to populate heaven. He created sons and daughters with real freedom. Freedom to walk toward Him… or away from Him.Yes, God already knows the outcome. He’s God.But knowing isn’t causing.A good father might know his stubborn child is going to touch the hot stove after being warned ten times. His knowledge doesn’t cause the burn — the choice does.In the same way, God’s foreknowledge doesn’t cancel our responsibility. It simply means nothing surprises Him.And honestly, this view fits the heart of the Gospel better.Because if everything were predetermined, prayer would be pointless, preaching would be theater, and invitations would be pretend. But they’re not.Every conversation matters. Every witness matters. Every “yes” matters.People really do decide. That’s why we keep sharing Christ. That’s why we keep praying for prodigals. That’s why we don’t give up on anybody. As long as there’s breath in their lungs, there’s still a choice on the table. And that sounds a lot more like the Jesus I know.

Known by God, Free to Choose

Jesus never pretended life would be easy.He didn’t gather His disciples and promise smooth roads, healthy families, and trouble-free days. Instead, He looked them in the eye and told them the truth.“In this world you will have trouble.”Not might. Not occasionally. Will. That’s real life.Every parent raising kids, every family carrying burdens, every believer trying to stay faithful already knows that part by heart. But Jesus didn’t stop with the warning.“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace… Take heart! I have overcome the world” - John 16:33.Peace isn’t found in a problem-free life. It’s found in Him.Circumstances change. Kids wander. Plans fall apart. But Christ remains steady. He has already overcome what we’re still worrying about. That means we don’t have to live anxious or afraid. We can breathe, pray, and stand firm, knowing the outcome is in stronger hands than ours.Trouble may visit your home. But it doesn’t get the final word.Jesus does. And that’s where real peace begins.

The Parent Trap
Over the years, I’ve noticed something that surprises people.Parents come asking for prayer for their children — and rightly so. A son drifting. A daughter making choices that break your heart. Nights staring at the ceiling, wondering where you went wrong. But many times, before I pray for the child, I pray for the parent.Because kids don’t just hear what we say about God. They watch how we trust Him.Children are perceptive. Like good horses or old farm dogs, they sense fear fast. They pick up on worry, tension, and quiet panic. They know when Mom and Dad say, “Trust the Lord,” but live like everything is falling apart. That’s the trap.We pray… but we don’t release. We ask God to handle it… then we try to take it back.Scripture reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God… will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7).Notice the promise isn’t control. It’s peace. Our children don’t need perfect parents. They need steady ones — calm, grounded, anchored in God.I’ve come to believe this:We are the physical evidence of the spiritual reality that God is faithful, present, and still at work. Our peace proves what we preach. So sometimes the first prayer isn’t, “Lord, fix my child.” It’s, “Lord, steady my heart.”Because when parents truly rest in God, children learn they can too.Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you.
Quote of the Day
"Our peace proves what we preach. When we rest in God, our children learn they can too." ~ ray mileurThere’s a kind of peace the world talks about — the kind that comes when problems go away, bills are paid, kids are behaving, and everything lines up just right. But that kind of peace is fragile. It disappears the moment life shifts. The peace God gives is different.Paul writes, “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all” (2 Thessalonians 3:16, Bible).Notice what he doesn’t say. He doesn’t promise easy days. He doesn’t promise smooth roads. He promises the Lord Himself.Peace isn’t found in control. It’s found in His presence. That’s the peace our children need to see in us.When the house feels uncertain, when prayers feel heavy, when answers are slow — if we can still breathe deep, trust God, and rest — that quiet confidence speaks louder than a hundred sermons. That’s why it’s true:Our peace proves what we preach. When we rest in God, our children learn they can too.A steady heart in a storm is powerful evidence that the Lord is real, near, and at work. And sometimes, that calm faith is the greatest gift we give our family.

Quote of the Day

Our Daily Devotion – Our Daily Bread
“Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’” — Gospel of John 6:35There’s a simple truth most of us learned the hard way: you can’t live today on yesterday’s meal.Following Jesus Christ isn’t a one-time decision you dust off once a week. It’s a daily walk. Nobody eats one big Sunday supper and expects strength for the rest of the week. Yet a lot of folks try to treat their soul that way—one church service, one quick prayer, and hope it carries them through. It doesn’t work like that. Never has. When the Lord taught us to pray, He said, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Not weekly bread. Not emergency rations. Daily. Because He knows we leak strength. We get tired. Life wears on us. We need fresh grace every morning like dew on the grass.Daily bread isn’t just food on the table. It’s Him. His presence. His Word. His steady hand on your shoulder before the day even gets started.Every morning you open your Bible, whisper a prayer, and sit quiet for a few minutes, you’re not checking a religious box—you’re eating. You’re feeding your soul. And sure enough, He meets you there. New strength. New hope. Just enough light for today. That’s usually how God works. Not a warehouse full of answers—just today’s portion. Enough to take the next step.So don’t settle for scraps once a week. Pull up a chair every day. Come hungry. He always sets the table.Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you. In His love and grace, ray mileur Helping believers walk closer to Jesus, one day at a time.

Matthew 4:4 is the Bible verse where Jesus, who was tempted in the wilderness, responds to the devil by quoting scripture (Deuteronomy 8:3) saying, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."When Jesus spoke these words, He hadn’t eaten in forty days. He was tired, hungry, and physically weak. If anyone ever had a reason to focus only on bread, it was Him. Yet in that moment of real, human need, He reminded us of something deeper: food keeps the body alive, but only God’s Word keeps the soul alive. We live in a world that teaches us to chase what we can touch—paychecks, schedules, meals, comfort, security. None of those things are wrong. Bread matters. Bills have to be paid. Work has to be done. But if that’s all we feed on, we end up spiritually thin and worn down.Jesus is saying, “Don’t forget what truly sustains you.”Just as you wouldn’t skip meals for days, you can’t neglect the Word and expect strength when temptation or trouble shows up. Scripture is daily fuel. It steadies your mind, guards your heart, and reminds you who you belong to.Bread fills your stomach for a few hours. God’s Word carries you through the day.So open your Bible. Read it. Sit with it. Let it feed you. Because real life—lasting life—comes from every word that comes from the mouth of God.Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you.
