Our Scripture of the Day & Ask the Pastor
“They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.’” Acts 16:31This scripture reminds me how often I try to hold my world together through my own strength, routines, and efforts—thinking I can control outcomes or somehow prove my worth. Like the jailer, it sometimes takes a “personal earthquake” for me to finally realize my limits and my vulnerability. In those moments of fear, confusion, or failure, I’m confronted with the same simple, profound invitation: to stop striving and simply believe. What stands out most to me is how God’s grace meets us precisely in the places we least expect—darkness, weakness, and brokenness. The message isn’t about earning acceptance but about receiving it. That’s both humbling and freeing. I’m inspired to let go of my anxieties about measuring up and to rest in the assurance that Jesus has already accomplished what I never could.Even when life feels like it’s crumbling, faith opens a door to hope and transformation—turning prisons into sanctuaries and despair into new beginnings.
Ask the Pastor - What Does “Household” Mean in Acts 16:31?
In the context of Acts 16:31 (“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household”), the word household refers to all the people who lived under the jailer’s roof. In ancient times, a household included not only immediate family members—such as a spouse and children—but could also extend to servants, relatives, and anyone else who was part of the home. The use of “household” carries a sense of communal living and shared identity that was common in biblical cultures. When Paul and Silas spoke this promise to the jailer, they were assuring him that the offer of salvation wasn’t just for him individually, but could extend to everyone under his care and influence—provided they too believed. So, “household” in this passage highlights both the reach of God’s grace and the interconnectedness of faith within families and close communities. Salvation is personal, but its impact is often generational and relational, flowing through homes, relationships, and everyday influence. Scripture of the Day & Ask the Pastor

Believe and Be Saved
“They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.’” - Acts 16:31 (ESV)It started with an earthquake—walls shaking, chains rattling, the very ground beneath a jailer’s feet giving way. In a single instant, everything he relied on was shaken, and his security turned to dust. Surrounded by fallen stones and rising panic, the jailer was left exposed, vulnerable, and terrified. Moments earlier, he had heard two prisoners—Paul and Silas—singing hymns in the dark, never imagining their faith would soon become his lifeline. In that moment of utter desperation, with his world collapsing, he asked the question that echoes through every human soul: “What must I do to be saved?” His cry pierced not just the thick prison air, but the darkness within his own heart. For centuries, human religion had tangled salvation in a web of complexities—endless rules, rituals, and striving for perfection that always seemed just out of reach. The world taught him, and us, that acceptance must be earned and worthiness proven. Yet that night, in the most unlikely setting—a dingy prison filled with broken men—heaven’s answer came clear and pure, cutting through the chaos with breathtaking simplicity: “Believe in the Lord Jesus.”Not “clean yourself up first” or “prove your worth.” Not “try harder,” “earn more,” or “be perfect.” Just believe. Trust. Receive. In that holy moment, the cold stone cell became a sanctuary, transformed by faith. The jailer discovered what countless hearts have found across the ages: when we finally surrender our efforts and reach out empty-handed, we encounter the Savior who has already done everything necessary. Freedom is not earned, but given. That same invitation reaches into every shadowed corner of our lives today: believe in Jesus. When anxiety shakes our foundations, or guilt and shame close in like prison walls, His grace still breaks through. Let grace accomplish what our striving never could—bringing hope, healing, and new beginnings where we least expect them. You don’t have to have it all figured out—just take Jesus at His word. Let us Pray Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You just as I am—no pretending, no performing, no trying to prove my worth. I believe You are the Savior who has already done what I never could. When my life feels shaken and my heart feels overwhelmed, remind me that Your grace is enough.Help me stop striving and start trusting. Teach me to release control and rest in Your promises. When fear, guilt, or shame try to close in like prison walls, let Your light break through and set my heart free again.I place my faith in You today, not in my own strength, but in Your finished work on the cross. Thank You for the gift of salvation, for new beginnings, and for the hope that never fails. I trust You with my life, my future, and my family. In Jesus' name I pray,Amen. Is there an area of your life where you’ve been striving instead of trusting?Take a moment today to release it to Jesus and rest in His grace. If this devotion encouraged you, please consider sharing it with someone who may need a reminder that salvation—and freedom—are gifts, not rewards. Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you.In His love and grace, ray mileur“Helping believers walk closer to Jesus, one day at a time.” www.raymileurministries.com

Beyond Politics: The Spiritual Battle Behind Minnesota’s Unrest What we are witnessing in Minnesota — the violent protests, the clashes with law enforcement, and the breakdown of civil order — is not simply political unrest. It reflects a deeper crisis in the soul of our nation. At its heart, this surge of lawlessness, anger, and hostility is rooted in spiritual conflict, not just political disagreement. In recent weeks, Minneapolis has seen multiple fatal shootings involving federal agents during an immigration enforcement operation. The latest, in which a 37-year-old man was killed and protests erupted on city streets, has fueled widespread outrage and confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement. Officials have deployed the National Guard amid ongoing clashes, and community tensions are at an all-time high.As believers, we recognize that spiritual warfare does not always look like supernatural spectacle — it often looks like the breakdown of peace and the eruption of fear, resentment, and violence where there should be order and respect for human life and dignity. When the rule of law is mocked, when public officials are treated with contempt, when violence is cheered and encouraged, we are seeing the effects of a world that has turned away from God’s standard for justice and righteousness.Scripture tells us that God “hates robbery for burnt offering” and that “the Lord loves justice.” Lawlessness — whether in the streets or in the halls of power — is an affront to God and a danger to every citizen. When peaceful protest dissolves into riot and when authority is met with contempt rather than accountability, we are seeing the real-world consequence of a deeper spiritual sickness. But here is the heart of the gospel: this battle is not won with more shouting or purer politics. It is won by humble hearts that turn back to God, that pray for leaders at every level — from the streets of Minneapolis to the halls of Congress — and that seek, first, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Only then will “law and order” be restored in a way that honors both justice and mercy.Let us pray for peace, for wisdom for those in authority, for protection for the innocent and for law-enforcement officers who faithfully serve, and for revival in the hearts of a people who have forgotten what it means to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Our Scripture of the Day
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)Reading Proverbs 3:5–6, I’m reminded of how often God calls me to loosen my grip on control and tighten my grip on trust. There have been many times when I’ve tried to make decisions based solely on my own logic, only to find myself anxious and uncertain about the future. This Scripture invites me to stop carrying the weight of every outcome and to rest in God’s wisdom instead of my own. When I choose to acknowledge God in all my ways—through prayer, gratitude, and seeking His perspective—I experience a peace and clarity I can’t manufacture on my own. It’s both humbling and freeing to realize I don’t have to have everything figured out. God promises to make my paths straight, even when the way forward feels unclear. This verse reminds me that trust isn’t passive—it’s a daily choice. A choice to invite God into every decision, big or small. A choice to believe He sees what I cannot and knows what I do not. And a choice to walk forward with confidence, not because I understand the road ahead, but because I trust the One who is guiding my steps. If today’s devotion encouraged you, please consider sharing it with someone who may need this reminder. You can find over 400 daily devotionals and reflections at: www.raymileurministries.comSometimes the message we need the most is the one that God uses us to pass along.Walk in faith, rest in grace, and trust the One who walks beside you. Scripture of the Day

Pray, Believe, Release
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)For years, many believers have been taught a simple formula: Pray, Believe, Receive. On the surface, it sounds biblical and faith-filled. But over time, something subtle can happen. Prayer can become less about trusting God and more about trying to control the outcome. We pray with a specific answer already locked into our minds. We “believe” hard enough to convince ourselves that God must respond the way we want. And when the answer doesn’t come the way we expected, we’re left confused, disappointed, or even questioning our faith.Scripture shows us a better pattern: Pray, Believe, Release. To release something to God means we place it fully in His hands—not just the request, but the outcome. Not just the timing, but the method. Not just what we want Him to do, but how He chooses to do it.Jesus modeled this kind of prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. Facing unimaginable suffering, He asked for the cup to pass from Him—but He didn’t stop there. He finished with, “Not My will, but Yours be done” (Luke 22:42). That wasn’t weakness. That was perfect trust.Real faith isn’t telling God what He must do. Real faith is trusting God to do what is right. When we pray and release, we are saying: “Lord, I trust You more than I trust my own understanding. I trust Your timing more than my urgency. I trust Your wisdom more than my preferences.”God still answers prayer. He still provides. He still heals, opens doors, restores, and blesses. But He does it according to His will, not ours—and His will is always shaped by eternal purpose, not just temporary comfort. When we release our prayers to God, we trade anxiety for peace. Philippians 4:6–7 reminds us that when we bring our requests to God with thanksgiving, His peace guards our hearts and minds. That peace doesn’t come from getting everything we want. It comes from knowing we’ve placed everything in His hands.Today, whatever you’re praying for—release it. Trust God with the who, what, when, where, and how. And rest in this truth: God’s answer will always be better than your best guess. Let Us PrayDear Heavenly Father, I come to You not to demand an outcome, but to trust Your will. I bring You my needs, my hopes, and my fears, and I place them fully in Your hands.Help me to believe You are good, even when I don’t understand Your ways. Teach me to release control and rest in Your wisdom, Your timing, and Your care. Not my will, Lord, but Yours be done. I trust You with the answer, and I trust You with my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
