We may lose our footing, grow weary, make the wrong choice, speak too quickly, doubt too easily, or take our eyes off the Lord. But a stumble does not mean the journey is over.God does not demand perfection from us. He desires persistence, humility, repentance, and a willingness to keep walking by faith. Each stumble can become an opportunity to grow, reminding us that His grace is greater than our weakness and His strength is steady when ours is not.Just as Jesus reached out to Peter when he began sinking beneath the waves, He reaches for us in our moments of fear, failure, and weakness. His hand is not withdrawn because we fall. His hand is there to lift us, steady us, and guide us forward.So when you stumble, do not stay down. Rise again by His grace. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. I expect people to fall. Not because I think poorly of them, but because I know the human heart — and I know my own. My own scabby knees are bruised, battered, and marked with scars from where I have fallen along the way. I know what it is to need grace. I know what it is to be lifted by the Father’s mercy when I did not deserve it.So when someone comes to me broken, ashamed, or afraid of being judged, I do not meet them with condemnation. I meet them with the same love and grace the Father has shown me.That does not mean we excuse sin or pretend failure does not matter. It means we remember that falling is not the same as being finished.When you stumble, do not run from the Father. Run to Him. The road is often steep, and the journey may bring challenges that test our faith, our patience, and our commitment. But the narrowness of the way is not punishment. It is protection.God, in His wisdom, guides us away from the distractions, dangers, and wide roads that can so easily lead us astray. The world offers many paths that appear easy, popular, and pleasing for the moment, but not every road leads to life.As you walk this narrow way, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. The path may feel difficult at times. It may even feel lonely. But you are not walking it alone. Christ walks beside you, giving strength in weakness, light in darkness, and courage when the road ahead seems hard.Trust His presence. Follow His lead. Just as the Israelites depended on manna from heaven, we too must recognize that yesterday’s blessings cannot sustain today’s faith.Each day brings its own challenges, needs, burdens, and decisions. That is why we must seek God daily, trusting Him for the strength, wisdom, grace, and guidance we need for the road before us.We often crave the security of storehouses filled with surplus. We like to know what is coming, how it will work out, and whether we will have enough for tomorrow. But God invites us into a deeper trust — the trust of daily dependence.His provision comes at the precise moment we need it. Not too early, so that we begin to rely on ourselves. Not too late, as though He were indifferent to our struggles. God knows what we need, when we need it, and how best to provide it.In embracing this divine rhythm of “enough,” we find rest and assurance in knowing that God is both aware of our needs and faithful to meet them day by day. But today, it seems we do not hear it as often as we once did.That is a loss.The Lord’s Prayer is not just a set of words to recite. It is a pattern for how to walk with God. It begins with worship: “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.” It teaches surrender: “Thy will be done.” It teaches dependence: “Give us this day our daily bread.” It teaches forgiveness, protection, humility, and trust.When Jesus taught us to pray for daily bread, He was teaching us to rely on the Father one day at a time. Not next month’s bread. Not a lifetime supply. Daily bread.Maybe that is why this prayer matters so much. National Day of Prayer: The Heartbeat of Our NationToday is the National Day of Prayer, a time when individuals across the nation gather in homes, churches, and public spaces to seek God together.This year’s theme, “Glorify God among the nations, seeking Him in all generations,” is based on 1 Chronicles 16:24: “Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.” Still, what we need most is not just reform or better conditions, but a true spiritual awakening that starts with repentance and humility before God.This verse reminds us where our focus should be. We are not gathering to lift up a flag or any one group.We come together to honor the Lord’s name among all people and nations.We are not asking God to approve our pride, political opinions, or personal preferences.We ask God to search our hearts, cleanse our actions, give us humble spirits, and restore our souls.Loving our country is not the same as seeking revival.I’m thankful for this country and the freedom we have. But America isn’t the Kingdom of God. Our first loyalty is to Jesus. We’re not just here to ask for blessings. We’re here to ask God to shape our hearts so they line up with His.God calls us to pray for our leaders and look out for our neighbors. I’m grateful to every person who longs to see our nation walk in righteousness, our towns filled with hope, and our churches alive with real faith.But just calling for change isn’t enough.We can pass new laws and fix broken systems, but only God can change a heart.We might change how a nation runs, but only the Holy Spirit can bring it back to life.This kind of renewal starts with prayer—alone and together—rooted in humility and honest repentance.We don’t win spiritual battles in courtrooms or at the ballot box. We win them on our knees in prayer.efore we ask God to help our nation, we should first ask Him to look at the Church. Before we pray for healing in our land, we need to seek humility among His people. Before we ask for change in the world, we must let go of worldliness in ourselves.This isn’t a message of despair. A Divine Moment in the Midst of MourningSaturday, I had the honor of officiating a funeral here in Southern Illinois for a remarkable woman who had journeyed from California to her final resting place. Her sister, a gentle soul from Indiana, arrived with the weight of sorrow etched on her face, every step bearing the ache and tenderness that only love and loss can bring. The air was thick with remembrance, and every glance, every embrace among those gathered, carried the silent language of mourning and shared memory.But somewhere in the heart of that service, as the Word of God was spoken with tenderness and the radiant hope of Christ was proclaimed, something sacred began to unfold. The room—once heavy with the hush of grief—grew lighter, as if sunlight had broken through on a cloudy day. You could sense the Holy Spirit moving, an unseen presence saturating the space. Faces softened, postures straightened, and eyes that brimmed with tears found new brightness. Hearts, heavy with sorrow, were gently caught and lifted by the promise of eternal hope that glimmered like a beacon.After the service, this grieving sister came to me and said something I will never forget:“I have never left a funeral filled with joy until today. Will you do my funeral?”That transformation was not the work of any speaker, nor the result of eloquent words or ceremony. It was the presence of the One who sends us—the Author of comfort, the Voice that speaks through His Word, and the Shepherd who finds us in our valleys. In those sacred, divine moments when grief and grace stand hand in hand, God Himself draws near, gently weaving hope into the fabric of our mourning.All glory belongs to God.He turned a moment of mourning into a living testimony of hope. In that space, we were reminded with gentle certainty that death is not the final chapter—Jesus speaks the last word. His resurrection power infuses even our darkest days with the possibility of joy and reunion.And when Jesus speaks, even in the valley of shadows—even at a funeral—joy can still rise, defying despair and illuminating our hearts with the promise of life everlasting.The Lord be with you.
